Mentoring platform

A mentoring platform for women’s programmes, run with you

For companies growing their own leaders, associations offering mentoring as a member benefit, and sports bodies building a pipeline across a whole industry. We built the software, and our team runs the programme on it with you.

Most mentoring programmes don’t fail at launch. They fail in month two.

The spreadsheet of matched pairs stops being updated, half the introductions never turned into a first meeting, and the person who set it all up has gone back to their day job.

OneUpOneDown is a mentoring platform for organisations that run mentoring programmes for women. We run the programme on it with you, from the first invitation to the report you take to your board.

The platform

What a mentoring platform should actually do.

A mentoring platform has one job: get the right two people talking, and keep them talking long enough for it to matter. Everything else is in service of that.

Sign-up and profiles

Built around your programme, with your own questions alongside ours.

Mentor matching

Proposes a pair, asks both people to agree, and introduces them.

Scheduling

Calendar booking, so nobody spends a week emailing about Tuesdays.

Reminders, notes and feedback

Keep each pair moving, and tell you which ones have gone quiet.

Reporting

Engagement and outcomes, weekly, monthly or quarterly.

Your branding

Your name, colours and content, so participants experience it as your programme.

Matching

Mentor matching that starts with the person.

Matching is where a mentoring scheme is won or lost, so we don’t leave it to a directory and a hopeful click.

Our matching looks at more than 47 compatibility factors, from career goals and skills gaps to stage, sector and what each person wants from the relationship. Each participant is proposed one match at a time rather than a list to scroll through. Both people approve before anything starts, so every pair begins with a yes on both sides.

Matches run in three-month rounds. A pair that’s working can carry on; one that isn’t can end early, and both people go back into the next round. Over time the platform learns from feedback and re-matches people as their needs change.

Launch

From launch to the first matched pairs.

A typical cohort launch takes about 30 days. Your involvement across all of it is around two to four hours. We handle the platform, participant support, engagement and feedback collection.

    Days 1 to 5

    Programme set-up

We take your branding and materials and configure the platform.

    Days 7 to 21

    Onboarding

Mentors and mentees are invited, sign up and complete their profiles.

    Day 21

    Matching

Pairs are proposed as soon as onboarding closes, unless you want a different date.

    Day 30

    First round complete

Every pair has been introduced, and the focus moves to keeping conversations going.

The detail is on how it works.

Evidence

What you can show for it.

A mentoring programme has to justify itself at budget time. The platform tracks participation, meetings and feedback as the cohort runs, so the evidence is there when you need it rather than reconstructed from memory at the end.

If you’re building the case internally, the business case for mentoring and our case studies are good places to start.

Fit

Is OneUpOneDown the right mentoring software for you?

We’re a good fit if

  • your programme is for women, or women are the priority group;
  • you want the programme run with you, not handed over as a login;
  • mentors and mentees may come from different organisations, as in an association or industry body.

We’re probably not the right fit if

you want a general-purpose tool for every kind of employee programme that your HR team will configure and run alone. There are good platforms built for that, and we would rather tell you now.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is a mentoring platform?

Software that runs a mentoring programme: it collects sign-ups, matches mentors with mentees, helps pairs meet, and reports on what happened. OneUpOneDown adds a team that runs the programme on the platform with you.

How does mentor matching work on OneUpOneDown?

Each participant completes a profile. The platform weighs more than 47 compatibility factors and proposes one match at a time. Both people approve the match before it starts, and matches run in three-month rounds that can be extended or re-matched.

How long does it take to launch a mentoring programme?

A typical cohort goes from set-up to its first completed matching round in about 30 days, with roughly two to four hours of your team’s time.

Can associations offer this as a member benefit?

Yes. Associations and member networks use OneUpOneDown to run mentoring across their membership, where mentors and mentees often work for different employers.

Can the platform carry our own branding?

Yes. The platform can be branded with your name, colours and content so it feels like your programme.
